Hello Victor. Could you briefly introduce yourself?
Hi team Rodmaps, me is Victor Jeolas, I am 30 years old, I have been passionate about fishing since I was little. I come from Saint-Victor and Melvieu in the Aveyron. I am self-taught on the streams of the town and the pinet dam, the first dam in the Tarn below Millau.
Could you tell us where did you get your passion for fishing?
As I said, I am self-taught but it was still my uncle who transmitted the virus to me by taking me fishing when he came home on vacation.
Like many, I don't know what the trigger really is. As far back as I can remember, I have always loved fishing.

Yeah what I like the most is a day when you understand things well, that you catch fish and especially that you share it with friends.
What fishing techniques do you practice at the water's edge?
Mainly, the fisheries of predators with lures even if they are not the only ones. I also practice a little bit of toc trout and from time to time, fishing for white fish.
And little pleasure, as soon as I have an opportunity to fish in the sea, I go for it!
What is your favorite fishing?
The peaches of percidae. These fish are driving me crazy!
Do you have a favorite fish?
Zander! Me, the fish that don't bite because you don't have the right jig head color, that fascinates me!
Since childhood, I have always been attracted to this fish. But at the time, I didn't know how to explain it.
But today, it is the reflection to put in place, the search for detail to improve fishing that fascinates me, especially since with us the environments are stuffed! When you find the trick, you quickly know!
Can you tell us about your journey?
For years, I have been fishing for predators, fishing for white fish and for trout.
My studies brought me to Toulouse, more than 10 years ago. This is where I discovered lure fishing, initially streetfishing on the Toulouse canals.
Quickly, I wanted to make fishing my profession. Suddenly, I left the world of IT and joined Decathlon, as a fishing salesman in 2011, then I passed my BPJEPS in 2012.
After acquiring the knowledge that seemed necessary to me, I set up as a fishing guide in 2017, on the greater Toulouse.
Today, I am responsible for the fishing department of Décathlon Escalquens, fishing trainer and ambassador for the Caperlan Predator brand.
We often see you intervening in the testing of new Caperlan products. Could you tell us a little more about the brand's projects this year?
Shhh !!! Projects are secret !!!
This year there are some great products coming! A new pike shad the Rogen ; swimming fish for trout and peaches or even casting rods for pike.
My favorites are the new colors of Natori, the new jig heads for the vertical and especially the fine braids in 4 and 6 hundredths.
How does product development work at Caperlan?
Detailing the entire process, that would be a bit long
Projects are defined by customer demand, market trend or individual ideas.
We also organize meetings with Decathlon salespeople to find out about their needs and customer requests.
Then, we make a selection of projects and let's go! Development, tests, validation of prototypes, work on communication. It takes about 2 years between the project and the marketing of the products.
Can you tell us a little more about the department where you guide, what are the fishing advantages of Haute-Garonne?
My adoption department! One great thing in the Toulouse region and its surroundings is the diversity of the fishing environment! Larger or smaller dam lakes, channeled rivers, wilder rivers, the Canal du Midi, the start of my fishing adventures, or even a multitude of trout environments!
Without forgetting that Spain is not very far ha ha
What do you like most about guiding?
Share with my clients! I had the chance to meet great people in my career. People who allowed me to progress through exchanges or fishing days. I am thinking of Jean-Michel Bauguil, Arnaud Mahut, Gael Even, Sylvain Garza and many others.

An anecdote to tell us during a guide?
There have been a lot of great actions!
One that will remain engraved is a large pike vertically on a flood fishing. A 4 ″ shad stitched on the tip of the nose. 96cm on the board!
A message to pass on to young people who would like to discover the world of fishing today?
I have so much to tell them, I see a store every day! Thank you already, thank you for practicing this sport and allowing our passion to live!
